Process
A baby quilt commission.
I had been wanting to get back to stripes after working on other geometric forms. Usually I do offset stripes, and this time I wanted to go for longer patchwork strips alternated with a neutral background color.
Initially, I created the patchwork stripes in a more uniform composition, where all of the pieces of patchwork were of similar heights. Once laid out, I cut some rows apart and rearranged them, and then used the leftover bits to add a top and bottom border.
This quilt has my favorite back I’ve made so far, pieced with leftover strips of various green and white striped vintage sheets.
Machine pieced and quilted, machine- and hand bound.
Quilted mostly in the ditch.
