Process
I usually work out new ideas on baby quilts. This time I was playing with larger freeform pieces, and quilting in sections in different directions. I worked on this improvisational quilt at home, and on the go – on the train, at a baseball game, and in the park. That spirit, and the gingham binding, imbues it with a picnic-blanket-like feel.
Machine pieced, hand quilted, hand-finished binding.
Hand quilted in unmeasured parallel and perpendicular rows.
Backing is pieced from vintage cotton sheets.
